Dear all,
The Physics Department wants to promote creative and innovative ideas related to physics, new technologies, and computer programming, which will make a difference in the fields of science, society, and education, among others. We believe that such novel ideas will emerge from a mix of skills and cultures; therefore, we want to facilitate interactions between physicists, engineers, professors/teachers, artists, lawyers, managers, business specialists, ...
To accomplish this endeavor, the Physics Department created the Innovation Lab. This laboratory provides space, workstations, and equipment for implementing the technical elements of your projects in a professional environment. The Innovation Lab currently hosts projects at all scales going from advanced research in astrophysics and nuclear physics to smaller outreach projects.
In addition to the Innovation Lab, the Physics Department introduces the Innovation Lab Club. We envision the Club as an evening activity during which members can share with others their ideas, their projects, and their technical achievements. The Club is also a place to learn technical skills at your own pace using the equipment that the Innovation Lab will provide, including Raspberry Pi, Arduinos, FPGAs, and sensors. More information can be found on the Innovation Lab website at http://innovation-lab.sylvain-guiriec.com (under construction).
If you have ideas and you do not know how to implement them technically, come to the Club to seek help from experts. If you have advanced skills in new technologies and/or physics, come to the Club to work with other experts and/or share your experience with newbies.
The Club is an inclusive environment opened to all students, faculty and staff members at the George Washington University.
Please share this information with anybody possibly interested. The flyer of this event is attached to the email.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our first meeting or at the future ones.
Best regards,
--
