Tour

The innovation lab is composed of 9 workstations:

● Project workstations
each workstation is composed of a work surface and a desktop computer as well as cupboards and drawers for storing equipment related to the active project. Each project workstation is allocated to a specific team during the agreed duration of the project and must be cleaned and vaccated for the next project.

● Mechanic worstation
a workbench and a roller tool cabinet with basic mechanical tools are available for the projects. This equipments are shared between all the teams. In case of intensive needs, this station can be reserved in advance to have the priority. The mechanic workstation must be cleaned and all project equipment removed after use. The tools must be stored back in the roller tool cabinet after use. In complement to the mechanic workstation of the innovation lab, the physics department is also allowed to use the mechanic workshop available in the basement of the Science & Engineering Hall (SEH). This can be used to complete larger tasks, which require professional equipment such as wood and metal laser cutters.

● Electronic assembly worstations
two stations are available for assembling and testing electronic equipment. They are equipped with anti-static insulation soldering mats, soldering stations, magnifiers, power generators, multimeters, among others. These stations are shared between all the members of the lab and can be used anytime. If you plan to use these stations, please, reserve them in advance to have the priority. If the space if free, you are welcome to use it but you will have to vaccate it if reserved. After use, the stations must be cleaned and vaccated. No specific project equipment should remain on the work surfaces.

● Electronic development worstations
eight stations are available for electronic development and for coding. Each station is equiped with basic material (e.g., a monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, a Raspberry Pi, an Arduino, a breadboard, and wires) and are ready for use. More complex electronic boards such as FPGA boards are also available; some of our FPGA boards have Python interfaces, which make them more accessible to beginners. The electronic development workstations can be used anytime outside the timeslots reserved for the clubs. These stations can be reserved in advance for priority. After use, the stations must be cleaned and vaccated. No specific project equipment should remain on the work surfaces.

● 3d printer worstation
an advanced 3d printer is available to the teams. An authorization is required before using it. The 3d printer workstation is also equipped with finishing tools, including an alcohol bath for cleaning the printed elements and a UV facility for solidifying the printed pieces. The physics department has also access to professional 3d printers available in the sub-basement of SEH.

● Visual station
projection equipment and a large TV monitor are available in the lab. They can be used anytime outside the timeslots reserved for the clubs and the classes.

● Water station
a sink and a faucet are available in the lab if needed.

● Classroom
the innovation lab host a classroom with tables and white boards. This space can be used outside of the timeslots reserved for the classes. It must be cleaned and vaccated after use. During classtime, the teams are allowed to access the innovation lab but they must respect the professor and the students (e.g., keep quiet and reserve the noisy activities when there is no class).

● Optics lab
The optics lab is located right next to the innovation and can be used for projects, which require a dark room and/or optics equipment. An additional authorization is requested before using the optics lab.
